Useful Info for First Timers

We are really pleased that again this year we have a number of first timers joining us at Camp again this year.

We have a page of information specifically for those who haven’t been to Camp before.  In the past we have published further information which may be of use, but which is now hidden in the archives (which you can access from the right column).  So to help everyone out here are some of those articles:

Whilst it is your responsibility to keep in touch with family and friends back home, they can stay in touch with what you’re getting up to at Camp by visiting the website.  We do our best to post photos and short updates to the websites whilst we’re away – so be sure to pass the website address onto them – and of course you get to enjoy the updates once we all get back.  This year they will also be able to follow our adventures on Twitter.

As ever though, if you still have questions that you’d like to see answered here please let us know.

Staff & Asst. Staff Meeting

Just a quick note to let you know that there is a Staff & Asst. Staff meeting this Sunday, 5th July, at Lovat Hall in Newport Pagnell from 8pm.  This is an important meeting and we encourage all Staff & Asst. Staff members to attend.

Please bring with you any first aid and food hygiene certificates (if applicable) and minibus licences.

Staff members please bring with you your most recent CRB form (completed through BB, GB or your Church) and a photocopy too if possible.  If you have not yet received your CRB form, please contact the agency and find out about its progress.

Important Information

This week we will be distributing a letter for your parents which contains all the important information they need about Camp including how you’ll be getting there (by coach), what time to drop you off and where, what time to expect you home, and the address and emergency contact details for whilst we’re away. The letter will be distributed by your Company but it is now available online too.

Along with the letter you will also be receiving the Medical Consent Forms which must be returned to your Company Officer/Staff Member by Friday 10th July. It is vital that you return the form by the deadline to ensure that the First Aid Team can review and organise the forms before we go. If you fail to return your Consent Form on time you will not be able to join us at Camp. Once you’ve returned your Consent Form, if you come into contact with any infectious disease you must let us know.

Please note that the dates on the Consent Form include the Advance Party and Rearguard dates (setting up and taking down the Camp) – don’t worry, you’re still only going for 10 days.

The Camp Booklet and Polo Shirts will be produced in the next two weeks and distributed to you, and your Camp ID card will be given to you when you arrive in Folkestone.

The Latest Information page has been updated with, duh, the latest information, and provides links to download both the Letter and the Medical Consent Form mentioned about.  We’ve tried to include all the information you need, but if you still have questions feel free to get in touch.

Don’t forget, if you aren’t currently on the MK Camp Email List you can join by simply sending an email to mkcamp-subscribe@googlegroups.com and we’ll ensure you’re kept informed of updates to this site and any other important information regarding Camp.

Theme Suggestions

Last year at Camp the theme was Shaun the Sheep, in 2007 it was Ice Age 2, and previously we’ve used Friends, The Simpsons, The Incredibles & Finding Nemo.  We usually design the Camp Booklet along the lines of the Camp theme, and name the tents after characters and our devotional sessions follow the theme too.

This year we’d like your help in selecting the theme.  Please give it some thought and then add your suggestions in the comment section below, and in a few weeks time we’ll select the best for this year’s theme.

Over to you…
